October of 2019 marked the centennial of the birth of Boston University Law graduate, Edward M. Brooke, who blazed a trail across the 20th century as a decorated military officer, an attorney, a crusading Massachusetts Attorney General, and as a  Senator from Massachusetts, the first black popularly elected to that role in US history.

Local historian Alan Earls will deliver this compelling and informative talk and slide presentation, covering Brooke’s fascinating life and, in particular, his role in Massachusetts and the nation during the Civil Rights era and beyond.
